SERIOUS WORK FOR SERIOUS MISSIONS
THE COMPANY BEHIND THE WORK, people first.
In 2017, we bought MBC.
We’d known it from the inside for years. We worked with the founders. We believed in what they’d built since 2003. We just thought it could be more.
We’d earned the right to think that. We’d already worked side by side for more than 25 years by then – at KPMG, then KPMG Consulting, then BearingPoint, now MBC. Decades of trusting each other before we asked a single client to trust us.
So we took the harder path. We walked away from 8(a) and replaced every protected dollar with work won in the open. No set-asides, no safety net, just the work and whether it was good enough. The open market tested us in ways we didn’t see coming, and we figured it out.
That’s where we learned what we actually believed. We learned it the hard way, in the moments we had to decide what to keep and what to let go. So we wrote it down – a short list of beliefs that became our Manifesto – and we ran the company by it with no exceptions for a hard quarter.
It’s also where we found our focus and our mission: national security, specifically the work we knew best and cared about most. Everything else, we let go.
MBC runs on two engines now: the people who own the mission, and the technology that serves them. Every project and every tool earns its place, or it goes.
That’s what MBC gives you. It’s more than a status or a contract vehicle. It’s a company that already knows what it costs to keep a promise that is run by two people who chose it on purpose and keep choosing it every day.
